Humza Yousaf has said he is “delighted” to have Murray Foote as the new SNP chief executive.
He tweeted: “Many congratulations to Murray Foote named today as the new SNP Chief Executive - only the third such appointment since the post was created in 1994.
During his time as editor of the Daily Record newspaper, Foote famously engineered"The Vow" – a pledge by UK political leaders to give Scotland more powers in the lead-up to the 2014 independence referendum, which was made on the newspaper’s front page. I wonder if the Author of"The Vow" in 2014, Murray Foote, now the new Chief Executive of the SNP, a man of flexible mind, will be the man to rescind my expulsion. 🤔He tweeted: “I wonder if the Author of"The Vow" in 2014, Murray Foote, now the new Chief Executive of the SNP, a man of flexible mind, will be the man to rescind my expulsion.
"However, the independence movement will rightly have reservations that the architect of “The Vow” - which sold the lie of Scotland having the most powerful devolved parliament in the world if we voted no, who then spent several years bragging about the effectiveness of The Vow - is the right person to be at the top of the party of a pro independence Government.”
