Humza Yousaf has hailed the legacy of legendary trade union campaigner Jimmy Reid and claimed it makes him "determined to lead Scotland to independence".
Reid stood as a general election candidate for both the Communist and Labour parties in the 1970s but later joined the SNP. Yousaf said: “Jimmy Reid was a trailblazer in so many aspects of his life, and one of the most influential figures in Scotland’s 20th century political history.” Speaking ahead of the lecture, he said: “Our ambition is to build better lives for this and future generations, with good jobs, lower poverty and higher living standards.
