The mayors of Montgomery and Selma are hosting the Community Violence Intervention Summit on Friday and Saturday.

MONTGOMERY , Ala. - Friday marks the first day of the Community Violence Intervention Summit hosted by the mayors of Montgomery and Selma .

Friday’s sessions focused on ways the community can address the impact of gun violence on families and neighbors. Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed “Violence is something that not only impacts our community, it impacts our entire country,” said Reed. “And so we’re trying to bring the best and the brightest around and help us present solutions that we can implement on local and state levels. So those who want to take this beyond here, I think this is a tremendous opportunity for us.”
