New Mersey Shopping Park launched a 'Merry Mailbox' scheme in partnership with Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton to combat loneliness among elderly residents this Christmas. Over 200 handwritten cards, crafted by schoolchildren and community members, will be distributed to Age Concern clients before Christmas Day.

Hundreds of elderly residents in Merseyside will benefit from a scheme designed to curb loneliness this Christmas season. At the start of December, New Mersey Shopping Park, on Speke Road invited customers to help spread cheer in the community with a new initiative. The shopping centre launched the ‘Merry Mailbox’ scheme in collaboration with Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton .

'It’s been heartwarming to see so many people engage with us – from schoolchildren carefully handmaking cards, through to families posting their warm wishes while doing their Christmas shopping. 'And a special thanks goes to the children of Stockton Wood Primary School, Speke , who blew me away with their fantastic cards and genuine heartfelt messages.
