There were three times as many accidental shootings last year than the year before. And nearly one-quarter of children who were shot in 2023 were shot by accident.
The gun lock distribution is happening Thursday at Villa Del Sol Apartments on Mission Drive. That's near 38th Street and High School Road. "Our goal is not to lose any more of our children - or anyone for that matter - by accidental shootings or suicide," said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey."We've seen far too many stories of loss, and we can do better by working together."
