Around 200 workers at the ExxonMobil petrochemical facility in Fife have withdrawn their labour and accused the firm of failing its 'legal duty' amid faulty alarm systems.
Hundreds of workers at Mossmorran petrochemical plant have downed tools in protest over health and safety fears.
The Unite union also says the workforce was not informed of this - nor of any procedures put in place to protect them. But Unite said it was calling for the Health and Safety Executive to investigate “due to the seriousness of the claims”. “This is a legal duty and not open to interpretation. Our members will be receiving their union’s unflinching support.”
“To add insult to injury, ExxonMobil and the contractors are refusing to pay the wages of the workers following the withdrawal of labour on health and safety grounds.
