A big game hunter says he is ‘totally unrepentant’ about killing thousands of animals in African national parks.
He was identified as one of the world’s most prolific hunters in a report released yesterday by ‘Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting. ‘The problem is we’ve got a bunch of so-called experts from the West telling us what to do. I’m a trained university ecologist – I must surely know something about this.’On his website, Thomson says he joined the Rhodesian Department of National Parks and Wildlife management as its first cadet game ranger in in 1959, aged 20.
The investigation by the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting claims that hunters from around the globe have taken home a total of 100,000 African elephant ‘trophies’ since the 1980s.
