The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a few tropical waves in the Atlantic as of Tuesday morning.
Here's what we know:One of the disturbances, called Invest 96L, is located about 1,000 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands, according to forecasters. It's currently producing limited shower and thunderstorm activity as it moves toward the west at 15 to 20 mph across the western tropical Atlantic and eastern Caribbean. Invest 96L has a low chance of developing further in the next two days , according to the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Beryl, a rare Category 4 storm that continues to thrash the Caribbean on Tuesday, is expected to pass Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands on Thursday, the NHC said. It's the first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season and the earliest Category 4 storm on record.
