Forecasters say the huge storm will unleash freezing winds and torrential downpours
WXCharts' latest weather maps reveal a 600-mile storm bomb stretching across most of the country by next Friday. The map for midnight on October 11 shows the storm engulfing the country from near Edinburgh all the way south to Land's End.
The following weather map, set for 6am on Friday October 11, shows that about 60mm of rain will have accumulated in major cities including Birmingham, Cardiff, and Manchester, the Express reports. Coastal areas of Wales and south-west England could be the worst hit for rain by Friday morning, with up to 80mm of rainfall.
The Met Office's deputy chief meteorologist Tony Wisson warned: "Hurricane Kirk is currently in the tropical Atlantic. It is expected to move north into cooler waters, where it will lose a lot of its strength, but maintain its identity as a moderately deep low-pressure system.
