Over the last 48 hours, the storm damaged essential power lines in Puerto Rico.Fiona is now heading towards the Turks and Caicos Islands.The Category 4 hurricane could reach The Bahamas on Tuesday evening.

Earlier this week, Fiona left three people dead after causing destruction in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. leading meteorologists urged the Caribbean to prepare for an “above-average hurricane season.” The World Meteorological Organisation names the Atlantic hurricanes in accordance to six rotating alphabetical lists.

Tropical storm Gaston has also formed in the Atlantic and its maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph. Minister of State Myles LaRoda said: “Residents are encouraged to be ready and stay ready no matter the forecast.
