Detective Inspector Abigail Goucher has urged victims to report what they go through
A Nottinghamshire Police detective who has been victim of domestic violence has urged people to report the abuse they're subjected to. Detective Inspector Abigail Goucher has opened up about suffering abuse in a previous relationship.
This was to mark the annual White Ribbon initiative and subsequent 16 Days of Activism. She said: "Sadly, we know that male violence against women can escalate over time – starting with relatively minor assaults and abuse before progressing to acts of extreme violence and even homicide. "You can feel intimidated, you could feel shame, and you can feel fear for the impact that decision will have on you and your family. But as a police officer I also know just how much we can do to keep you safe and to end your abusive relationship."
