As the new series of Love Island kicks off, 2021 contestant Andrea-Jane (AJ) Bunker has shared her experience of applying for the show and what the process entails
Love Island returns to screens for 2024 with a group of fresh-faced singletons heading into the famous villa, and from footballers to hairdressers and professional dancers - this year's group has quite the mix.
AJ described the lengthy process during a chat with OK! previously, where the star explained that she had applied thinking 'nothing of it'. "I headed over to the ITV website and began filling in my application. It was a lengthy form, but the hardest part was having to create a one-minute video about myself. I remember filming myself in my conservatory, repeating how much spice I could bring to the villa. It wasn't anything too flashy.
Sharing that she then spent weeks prepping answers for the video call, AJ decided to get glamorous and recalls wanting to show 'as much skin' as possible, since she would be in swimwear if picked for the show. But one part was particularly difficult, recalls AJ. She said: "The most agonising part of the whole process was the waiting. I was constantly on edge for a phone call to tell me that I'd progressed to the next stage and it consumed my every thought.
