Attending a wedding has become increasingly expensive as have pre-wedding festivities, leaving many hundreds out of pocket

Figures reveal that attending a wedding is likely to cost someone £451 – or the average of 19 per cent of a monthly salaryin her time, and has a summer full of festivities before her own big day next year, but has recently had to decline an invitation due to the high cost.
This is a significant figure that’s left 19 per cent of guests having to decline a wedding invitation due to the costs involved. Roughly, Katie will pay “under £200” for the bachelorette party, with the total cost of the UK-based event around £800. She said: “Before I got engaged, I didn’t realise how much a wedding would actually cost. My wedding will be abroad – partially because venues in the UK are very expensive. In our mind, we wanted our money to go further, so going away made sense.has led to me and my fiancé to be careful with spending, and not jumping into everything at once. The last thing we want to do is to max out our budget by next spring, with items left outstanding.
Pre-wedding celebration attendees also feel the pressure from the wedding couple, with 33 per cent of guests saying they felt they were expected to cover the entire cost of the trip for them.
