There was a flirty frisson in the air between us In the glorious summer of 2012, I jetted off to a festival in Spain with my sister and her friends. A beach break and live music sounded like the perfect combination and I didn’t think twice. The night before the festival kicked off, everyone headed into the local, cobbled-street town for a pre-fest fiesta. And it was here that I met John*.
The following day, at Leeds Festival, I sat on a stranger’s shoulders in the crowd and proudly shouted: ‘I’m seeing the bassist!’ It was a summer fling that came to its natural conclusion I don’t think anyone could hear me over the swell of drums, guitars and thousands of other screaming fans but I didn’t care. It felt amazing to say. Over the next few weeks, I felt like I was in a movie.
