Welded bracelets that are permanently attached to your wrist have taken TikTok, and the world, by storm
. The trend first emerged in 2014 when Italian brand, Atelier VM, developed its 18-carat gold L’Essenziale bracelet, which is said to be the first bracelet in the history of jewellery-making to be welded directly onto the body.

Instead of closing with a clasp, a chain is welded around the shopper's wrist. This creates a "seamless design" that can’t be removed easily and is meant to be worn all the time, according to the H Samuel website.
"The high heat used by our laser closes the loop in such a way that it will not come undone and there is no need for a clasp. The result? A piece of permanent jewellery you'll want to wear forever." "The best thing about permanent jewellery is that it is welded on and designed to be worn forever," the spokesperson said. "But if you do need to remove it, you can visit us in-store to have it cut by someone from our dedicated welding team, or carefully at home yourself using nail clippers."
