There's cheaper way to sample the delights of the 'Insta-perfect' cafe

If you've been inside Trafford Palazzo in the last 12 months, you will have spotted the pink café taking centre stage. It's actually almost a year since EL&N opened, the first north west branch of the famous London cake cafe, and safe to say it's been a pretty big hit.

A lot of people head there simply for its signature cakes, which can be eaten in or taken home from the 'Take the Cake' cabinet at the front of the cafe. It recently teamed up with Too Good To Go, which lets shoppers reserve a bag on the app to collect. Basically it's stuff that would otherwise be chucked away as it's close to its best before, so it helps retailers stay green and lose less cash, while letting shoppers get the goods at a cut price.

"Your Surprise Bag may include delicious sweet treats such as pastries, cakes or brownies or maybe even a bagel, focaccia or sandwich," it says, adding: "EL&N products are premium and made with the highest quality produce around so they are of the highest standard." I had two items rather than three, so I'd be surprised if it was the equivalent of £15, but I could see from the online menu that one of them was £6.50, so it's probably not far off.

Manchester United's Old Trafford considers 'red route' schemes to tackle obstructive parkingManchester United's Old Trafford considers 'red route' schemes to tackle obstructive parkingObstructive car parking around two of the busiest routes past Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium has forced town hall bosses to consider introducing 'red route' schemes. Trafford council says the plans will improve journey times, reduce congestion and improve air quality - by managing start/stopping vehicle movements - on parts of the A56 and A5801 in Stretford and Trafford Park. The red routes would also provide a safer environment for people, walking, cycling, wheeling and driving, by discouraging obstructive and dangerous parking, council chiefs say. The authority, working with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), has launched a consultation asking the public to share their views on the proposed scheme. Concerns have been raised by the council, local residents, Greater Manchester Police and TfGM regarding congestion and road safety issues, particularly over events hosted in the Old Trafford area, including Old Trafford Football Stadium and Victoria Warehouse.
