This dress was only £4 from Vinted Twirling barefoot in a long, floral dress, I smiled as friends stuck gems to my face. The sun was setting over Glastonbury 2023, and we were waiting for Elton John to take to the stage. Fixing my flower crown, I smiled at a little girl – she was staring, and then whispered something to her mum. ‘Excuse me,’ her mum said. ‘My daughter wants me to tell you that you look like a princess.’ As I smiled, and hugged her daughter I felt like one, too.
I sourced everything via resale platforms or second-hand, including bikinis, bras, presents, festival outfits and more. I found that I was shopping for what I needed, or what I wanted. Not just for the sake of it. Some of my favourite pieces have been a ruffled, Victorian-style black maxi dress from Vero Moda, peppered with gorgeous purple and lilac flowers. It was a showstopper dress for my 30th, costing just a fiver.
