JK Rowling has chided Scottish lawmakers for a piece of legislation which criminalised “threatening, abusive or insulting” behaviour against an individual’s protected “characteristics”.

JK Rowling has mocked Scotland's new hate crime laws, with the Harry Potter author claiming an"accurate description" of biological sex is now a criminal offence.

Rowling listed 10 high profile transgender women in her thread who fall within the protected category, with some of them being convicted rapists and paedophiles. Rowling doubled down on her position and even said she looked forward to being arrested, listing off the hashtags: #ArrestMe #AprilFools #HateCrimeActScotland
