'I will go as long as I can'
A 91-year-old who has worked for B&Q for two decades says he has no plans to retire – believing he “wouldn’t be here” without his job.
But he also collects money for charity with his donation bucket – a passion that has seen him raise an incredible £175,000. And despite being way past retirement age, Alan says he has no plans to slow down – believing his active lifestyle helps him stay healthy. “If it weren’t for me doing that, I don’t think I would be here. I see customers when I go out in town. I went to Blackpool a few years ago and a gentleman said, ‘Hello Mr B&Q,’ people know me from all over. I’ve even had people in Spain recognise me.”
