Of the benefits – and risks – of Hancock taking part in such a high-profile reality show, Blackburn added:"It will raise his profile, hopefully in a good way – but of course, it can destroy somebody as well.
"I know one or two people where it has destroyed their careers, so you've got to be very, very careful. And you can only do it if you think you can handle it."The former winner also reflected on Hancock's switch away from the intense world of politics – and the scrutiny he's faced from across the political spectrum for flying to Australia to take part in the show during a cost-of-living crisis.
"It's an interesting move. Obviously he realises his political career at the moment isn't going any further. It's great for the programme. And, you know, I wish him luck, it's a very brave move, I think," he said. "I would have thought that really, in all honesty, he should be in the House of Commons doing his job. But that's his point of view, isn't it?"
