It's the clever alternative to Christmas Eve boxes but – as Netmums writer Alison Perry explains – it doesn't have to cost you much to do.
Any Christmas tradition, for me, has to be faff-free and affordable. We don't do Elf on the Shelf and we have to limit festive days out because as a family of five, they can cost the earth. What is a December 1st box? Not familiar with them? Let me explain...
But I soon realised that a) giving her more presents a day before Christmas Day felt a bit OTT b) she'd only get a few days of wear out of the Christmas PJs before it was no longer Christmas. Low-cost is key and this year, I've managed to create my kids' December 1st boxes for under £10 each!Coming to a total of £8.58!
For my teenager, I've just gone with Christmas PJs, a festive lip balm and a Chocolate Orange, keeping it under a tenner for her too.
