'I'm not bothered' - What the young people of Manchester have to say about the King's Coronation
On Saturday the nation will come together to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III with street parties and events galore.
For 18-year-old student from Manchester, Love, her A levels were much more important than anything that taking place at Buckingham Palace on Saturday. Speaking to the MEN she said :“I don’t think it does anything for me. The Royal Family has always been there so it’s just another person stepping up. For 23-year-old Logan, news of the Coronation came as a surprise, however, he echoed Love’s sentiments about his lack of care while also pointing to the British Empire's history as the reason why he does not support the monarchy full heartedly. “I didn’t know it was happening until you just said it to be honest, I didn’t know the Coronation was happening this weekend." He exclaimed.
Some young people on the streets of Manchester did care and were in fact very much looking forward to the big day. 19-year-old Lina who is originally from Sudan saw the Coronation as a chance for her to witness first hand what takes place during crowning of a monarch.“I’ve only been here for nearly six years so I’ve never really experienced that whole event and what the country actually does when something like that happen.
