The long and painful postmortem for the Conservatives' worst electoral result has begun
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty leave 10 Downing Street following the Conservative Party’s defeat in the General Election, and are given the traditional ‘clapping out’ by Downing Street staff and his special advisors.
“How can she claim to be a Popular Conservative when she can’t even get elected in the safest Tory seat in the country? She will probably try to blame the deep state for getting booted out.” A “Red Wall” Tory who lost his seat also blamed the failure from Conservative headquarters to fund digital attacks adverts properly.
But a former Tory adviser insisted the downfall of the party was not a result of any single issue, but a collection of failures.
