Jamie Oliver's new Channel 4 series has been met with some scrutiny
The humble air fryer has the nation in a chokehold - but are we slowly getting sick of the mini oven craze?
His new two-part series - in partnership with appliance brand Tefal - launched on Monday, April 15 and has since been described as "cringeworthy" by viewers who are simply tired of air fryer culture. One person wrote online: "What next James Martin Microwaves? Rick Stein slow cooks? This programme is a joke."
With lunchtime nearing, I decided to kick off with the chicken thighs. I also figured this would be a straightforward recipe to whip up - simply requiring seasoning and breadcrumb coating on the chicken before popping them into the air fryer. The aroma was enticing and the appearance was very appetising. I finished off by squeezing a lime wedge over the top.
Despite being a fan of these cheesy treats, I'm no baker, so the idea of making dough filled me with dread. The next 12 steps of the recipe, which surprisingly had nothing to do with the scones - making a side salad - left me a bit puzzled. I wasn't too concerned about this, but I did enjoy the 'lemony cream cheese' sauce - a blend of black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, and cream cheese.
As you can see from the picture, my presentation skills could use some work, but they tasted great. They were sweet with a soft centre, making them the perfect partner for a cup of tea.
