Nato forces in Afghanistan were firing around 300 artillery rounds a day during that conflict. By comparison, in Ukraine, the rate is estimated to be 2,000 to 7,000. It is actually much lower than Russia’s use – with estimated figures of between 20,000 and 50,000 per day.
