It's a lucky thing to be able to order a Friday night takeaway which is cooked by Britain's 'best curry chef'. Last year, Laxman Bhandari, Nepalese head chef/owner of Da Mount Gurkha in Waterloo, was awarded the title of 'best chef' at the Curry Life Awards in London, an event celebrating curry in Britain, attended by many experts in the field.
In fact, Da Mount Gurkha may just be the best restaurant in Waterloo, but I'd never ordered a takeaway from there so, being the cynic that I am, I was intrigued to see if the same amount of care was given to preparation of food when someone like me walks in off the street to pick up their order - I can't see it wouldn't.
The momos, despite losing their intended texture and becoming more like classic momos, where perfectly cooked while the spiced chicken inside of them had a well-balanced blend of subtle flavours which complimented the fiery and acidic momo sauce brilliantly. The wings were hot, sweet and spicy, having been tossed in what could be described as an oriental barbecue sauce.
