Food blogger James Dimitri included the restaurant as part of his Tourist Trap series

Fish and chips is one of the country’s most beloved dishes. From London to Lancashire, debate still rages as to where it originated from, more than 150 years after we began eating it.

The London-based food blogger has uploaded almost 300 videos on TikTok where he samples offerings from cafes, pubs and restaurants, not just across the capital but into Europe and beyond. This has included a series on what he calls the ‘tourist traps’ of London, including the Hard Rock Café, Spaghetti House and now a visit to Kerridge’s newest opening.

The blogger praised the batter as “nice and crispy” and said the fish “seemed fresh” – but found it small for the price he had paid. Worse still, the piece he had been given kept leaking water all over his plate while he ate, describing it as “non-stop leakage”. The fish and chips offering is the seventh restaurant the Wiltshire-born chef has opened across the south of England. Three of Kerridge’s restaurants have been lauded with Michelin stars.
