Don't get me wrong, I took one of them home with me too but when I spotted a full half of the 'seasonal' aisle full of elaborately sized Easter eggs I assumed there would little space for the Ramadan aisle. I assumed wrong. The other half - with the exception of one shelving fixture - was crammed with a variety of Ramadan essentials.
Next I went to scout out the supermarket's 'cupboard essentials' deals. Asda's deals on chapati flour and rice often fluctuate through the year and as it's such a staple in Asian cooking, buying in bulk is always necessary. As well as the calendars, new to Asda is The Desi Doll Company’s innovative, bi-lingual soft plush talking Muslim dolls. The £30 dolls make ideal Ramadan and Eid presents.
