The island of Lesbos has seen a three-year peak of people crossing from Turkey to Greece and conditions are worsening
"It is awful," he says."I really feel ashamed as a European, as a Greek. These are poor people. They are people who travelled a lot, worked a lot. They crossed continents to get here.
This week, we met many who had recently arrived, including Rohina Rahmani, a 16-year-old girl who had spent three months travelling to Greece via Iran, Turkey and then the Aegean Sea. She was shocked at what greeted her. She had believed Europe would offer a better life for her family. She asks why they have to live in these conditions when there is the whole continent of Europe out there.
