Liverpool loves Taylor Swift and the superstar is loving us right back as the Anfield shows end on a high
It’s fair to say I’m not your typical Swiftie. Some would say I’m a little long in the tooth to be wearing cowboy boots and a Red Era-inspired dress but, to quote Taylor, “the worst kind of person is someone who makes someone feel bad, dumb or stupid for being excited about something”.
Just moments into her last show at Anfield, Taylor told the crowd: "Liverpool just look at you. I've got to be honest, you're making me feel absolutely fantastic right now." Despite breaking Anfield attendance records and the 62,000-strong crowd, the Eras show, at times, feels surprisingly intimate as Taylor connects effortlessly with her adoring fans. This is especially true during her acoustic surprise songs set and tonight Liverpool was in for a real treat.
While some of Taylor’s most famous songs and eras such as ‘Shake it Off’ from 1989 and Red’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ inspire the loudest singalongs, tracks from the recently released Tortured Poets Department are an unexpected highlight among a catalogue of classics. Taylor seemingly levitates across the stage, behind her a darkening sky and a zombie-like image of her face projected onto the giant screen, during a rousing performance of ‘Who’s afraid of little old me?’.
