As rising food prices continue to burn a hole in household pockets, some have made the decision to cut out one of their weekly food shops each month in a bid to curb costs gracegausden93 reports

“We used tins of black beans and made up burritos, jacket potatoes with tuna, curry meal kits that had been sat on the shelves for months, it was all really easy once you took a step back and looked what was still there. It also meant that fruit that was being ignored suddenly became an essential snack.”

After noticing the stark difference in the weekly price of their shop, Tom took stock of how much things were really costing and noticed theHe highlighted pineapple sticks that were once 30p and are now 50p – an increase of 66 per cent – while a tin of soup has risen from £1.50 to £2 – a hike of 33 per cent.

“On their own it’s not significant, but when it is all combined, your final shop is a lot higher than it used to be.”Tom said: “I had started buying protein yogurts at £1.50 each, when I could easily buy a four pack of yogurts I liked just as much for £1. My partner was buying expensive crisps when really she preferred some of the cheaper options.
