Frank says he adores spending time on his pristine atolls with his family, but climate change is making them a liability
The writer saw their potential in 2004 and spent his life savings on purchasing them, but says that “just being there for only four days is wonderful, regenerating”. Although he prefers not to disclose how much they cost him, he admits they cost him his life’s savings and investments. Frank is an island lover. When he was younger, he lived for nine years in Friday Harbor on San Juan island in Washington, selling jellyfish for half a cent each. His parents also owned a small island in Maine, while Anne grew up on a family fish farm in the Philippines.
