Two weeks ago, I was standing in my dress. I lay awake at night, musing over the exact shade of lip liner to wear. I went for Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Pillow Talk’. I spent 45 minutes customising thank you cards for my bridal party.
Planning a wedding is a funny thing. It starts with sitting on the bed, laptop resting between the two of you, while words like “low-key” and “intimate” fly through the air. You dance around the idea of home or away, winter or summer, excited by the thought of building one of the “best days of your life”, to be celebrated in front of all the people who helped you get there.
Messages came through thick and fast. Some were concerned, some were questioning: “What’s happening with the wedding?” That, in particular, was a question that filled me with fury – how was I supposed to know? And while I didn’t want to answer them all individually, I started sending emails to the venue to discuss a new date.
