Air fryers have been gaining popularity over the years, but with energy prices soaring, they've become an essential kitchen gadget. However, with a plethora of well-reviewed energy-efficient air fryers already on the market and most homes already having one - in my case, my trusty family-friendly Acti-Fry Genius XL - is there room for another one?
Watching QVC's Ninja brand ambassador Gail Samways effortlessly prepare a chicken and pasta dish was admittedly quite impressive, but I had a hunch that the average person might not achieve the same level of success with the multi-function gadget straight away.After a week of using it, I've discovered that the Ninja Speedi is essentially the kitchen gadget for those who don't have the time or desire to regularly use kitchen gadgets.
The cooker took a few minutes to pre-heat to the right temperature but once it did, it simultaneously steamed the pasta and vegetables in the bottom of my pot while air frying and baking the chicken, which I had generously coated in Nandos lemon and herb rub to keep my children happy. In the following nights, I was able to whip up new combinations, all of which were simple to make, cooked perfectly and the kind of family crowd pleasers I usually only have time to cook at the weekend.
I've even managed to streamline a Jamie Oliver one-pot Cajun chicken traybake recipe from his latest Channel 4 series, reducing both the fuss and cooking time significantly.
