Home insurance costs have jumped by a third over the past year, but I found a quick way to save myself £81. Better still I got a year's worth of two-for-one cinema tickets and discounts on restaurant meals and takeaways thrown in for free.
The cost of insuring the contents of my one-bedroom Brighton flat had more than doubled from £110 to £231.Average premiums for combined building and contents cover have soared by a third from £213 a year ago to £241 this month, according to figures from Go.Compare. My insurer at the time, Admiral, was great to deal with and paid more than £800 for repairs with very little fuss.And thanks to a rush of deadlines, I completely forgot to shop around for a better deal.
