The most appealing part of the meal was the bowl in which the food was displayed
I'd like to begin with the contentious declaration that I quite like Wetherspoon's food. Many people turn their noses up at the menu but if I've called in for a pint I'm never opposed to grabbing a quick bite, too. I've always found the portions decent and affordable compared to some of its high street competitors.
The dish is the first thing you see when you open the app or grab the table menu. It's front and centre in every way possible so customers know it has arrived. Set against a blue background, large chicken chunks are mixed with chips and doused in a fire-red sauce with a few sprigs of coriander and sliced chilli for good measure. The bowl is also new and not the classic blue patterned plates we've grown accustomed to.
The most appealing part of the dish is the bowl in which it's presented. A quick glance and you'll discover nothing is actually new. The sparkly limited edition item is nothing more than standard Wetherspoons chips, chicken chunks and strips tossed together in what tastes like a minutely sweeter-tasting barbeque sauce. I'm not entirely convinced it's not the very same.
