Katrina Gorry said a chill ran up her spine when she went down injured for West Ham United, and she feared she may miss what could be her last major tournament with the Matildas.
Katrina Gorry has declared herself all but certain to be fit for the Paris 2024 - but admits a chill ran up her spine when she went down injured for West Ham United and realised she was at risk of missing what could be her last major tournament with the Matildas.
“As soon as I went down, I knew that something wasn’t right,” she said of the injury she suffered in March, during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, which ended a superb debut season in the FA Women’s Super League. “Obviously, it would be pretty devastating if I did have to miss the Olympics, but I trust in my body. I feel like I can get back and give what I can.”Gorry is not sure how many more big moments she has left to look forward to in an Australian playing strip, having acknowledged, with the next World Cup to come in 2027 in Brazil - and while she wants to play as long as she can, there are competing factors. Her partner, former teammate Clara Markstedt, is pregnant.
