Mum-of-four Victoria describes the sacrifices she has to make to cope with escalating bills and reveals how i’s Christmas appeal charity Action for Children has made such a difference to their lives
When her daughter innocently offered her pocket money so the family could afford to buy bread and milk, Victoria felt her heart would break.. “When your child comes to you and says: ‘Mummy, just take my money so you can go to the shop and“It is heartbreaking and you feel torn as you want to take the money to be able to survive and. Trying to explain to her children why she isn’t eating with them can be difficult and she tries to shield them as much as she can. “Sometimes, I say: ‘Mummy’s got a bit of tummy ache so I’m not feeling hungry,” she says. “But other times, I’ll sit at the table with them while they eat and when they ask why I’m not eating and I tell them there’s only enough food for them, their little eyes look at me as if to say: ‘Have mine.
