And then I watched on helplessly as the second wave hit. The flood of worry taking over for many, as the closures began. The upset silently weaving its way through phone conversations with my loved ones, as they stoically make the best of things, despite what they could lose. I used to dream that if I ever lived in Italy, I’d have shutters that I could fling open onto a town square. And having succeeded in doing as such, it was from that vantage point that I learnt another piece of our limited freedom was being taken away.
