Jonny Marsh ditched a dream job to work in football - now he is cooking for some of the Premier League's biggest names. He speaks to i's Oliver Young-MylesFootball has changed beyond recognition in the past two decades, with healthy eating and nutrition at the forefront of the sport’s evolution. Gone are the days of elite players fuelling up on pies and pints.club’s training ground were novel and limited to militaristic managers, now they are commonplace.
“I had no intention of ever staying at that point. It was always my dream to go to Noma. I know it was only a stage and wasn’t a paid job but it was a very big decision to make. Like many chefs, established or aspiring, Marsh regularly posts videos of himself cooking up dishes that people at home can replicate. He currently has over 383,000 followers.“I never had Instagram or Facebook until I started working for the players. It was one of the players’ friends who told me that people would want to see this and I was like nobody would want to see this.
Besides the staples, Marsh rustles up dishes from all over the globe to cater to his cosmopolitan client base.“It’s really weird but it’s actually stunning and quite a popular dish in Belgium. It was really nice to do but that’s the most unusual stuff I’ve done.”
