It was hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been to
Tucked a little further afield in Warrington it is a welcome new addition to the town's somewhat sombre high street. From a glance, it's your standard restaurant offering the classic red meats and nibbles and not particularly anything you'd travel miles for.
A glass of white wine and menu in hand, it was time to decide what I would be dining on. As aforementioned, the classics are there: charcuterie, chicken skewers, olives, homemade flatbreads, rump, steak frites, ribeye's, T-bones and tomahawks. Pendergast's doesn't reinvent the wheel with its menu but the typical person isn't expecting a Heston Blumenthal experience from a local steakhouse. It's, in a way, comfort food.
Olives and cured meats were washed down with heaping glasses of wine to make way for what can only be considered as a disgraceful amount of food still to come - we ordered the tomahawk . Slashed into eight individual cuts that easily stood as stand-alone steaks for the average diner, there was a moment of brief fear that we could never finish what we started.
