Entering Liverpool’s newest supermarket, the lights dazzle like the Las Vegas strip, and the intriguing aroma hits you like a punch from Mike Tyson. Blue Whale Supermarket really is a full-body sensory experience, and that’s before your eyes even have the pleasure of gawking at the aesthetically pleasing layout and colour coordination. The Hanover Street store welcomed customers “with a grand opening” on Friday, March 28.
The aisles were stacked with cult favourites, including the five-spice noodles. Whether it was black garlic, tonkotsu or sweet and spice, all the flavours you could imagine were covered and being sold, in some cases, for as little as 79p. Adjacent to this was a host of fresh fruits and vegetables. Filling black plastic boxes were dozens of £3 pomegranates, £3.99 Singo pears and £1.69 red Fuji apples.
