Sinfield, who has spearheaded fundraising for MND charities alongside his Leeds Rhinos teammate, has been leading the tributes following Burrow's death.
Kevin Sinfield has paid tribute to his "wonderful friend" Rob Burrow following his heartbreaking death. Burrow passed away on Sunday, aged 41, after a four-and-a-half-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
Together, the pair have left a lasting legacy both on and off the field. They were the cornerstone of Leeds Rhinos' greatest-ever side, winning multiple trophies together for over a decade. And following Burrow's diagnosis in 2019, they have raised over £15 million for MND charities. Both were awarded CBEs earlier this year by the Prince of Wales for their efforts in raising funds, and they are both members of the Rhinos' Hall of Fame.
The pair have touched the hearts of millions of people across the globe, with the image of Sinfield carrying his friend over the line after they completed the Rob Burrow Leed Marathon together will be remembered for years to come.In a statement released by the Leeds club, Sinfield said: "Today was the day that I hoped would never come.
"The world has lost a great man and a wonderful friend to so, so many. You fought so bravely until the end and became a beacon of hope and inspiration, not only for the MND community but for all those who saw and heard your story. "I would always say that you were pound for pound the toughest player I ever played alongside, however since your diagnosis, you were the toughest and bravest man I have ever met. I will miss you my little mate."
