EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has spoken about the impressive pounds she shed as part of a lucrative DVD deal – and her regrets at taking the money, then regaining the weight
EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy opened up on This Morning on Thursday 9 May about how she felt about the £100,000 deal she made in 2007 to film two weight loss DVDs, and the regrets she has had since about it. The actress, best known for her role as Sonia Fowler in the BBC soap, has stated the deal was “a mistake,” and host Ben Shephard asked her about comments she had made about it in a 2022 podcast.
It was during food writer and presenter Grace Dent’s podcast Comfort Eating in 2022 that Natalie admitted that she had not approached losing weight in a healthy way when she took the DVD deal. She said: "I was very overweight and they approached me and said 'Listen, we're going to give you £100,000, we're going to get you really fit and you're going to lose four stone'.
