THE Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) slammed a 'disbarred lawyer' for his 'baseless, malicious and untrue' claims that his disbarment was part of Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen's vendetta against him and that he was targeted as a supporter of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Although the IBP did not name the lawyer in its statement issued on Thursday, it defended the Supreme Court's decision, saying that as 'a collegial body. It takes at least one division or the Court sitting en banc to render a valid judgment.
'The IBP also dismissed the claim made by the disbarred lawyer that 'some people' in the Supreme Court called him the day before his disbarment was announced to convince him to ask the President to intervene on his behalf and withhold the decision ordering his disbarment.'His insinuations that certain personalities in the Supreme Court wanted to leverage his disbarment for certain favors from the President,' the IBP said.
