Police provide an update on the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson, who tragically died during a Challenge Cup match between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The 29-year-old, who played for the Nottingham Panthers , tragically died following an incident during a Challenge Cup against the Sheffield Steelers . The match was swiftly cancelled and his death was confirmed the next morning through a statement from the Panthers who said he had been involved in a "freak accident".
Sadly, he was later pronounced deceased at hospital. Our officers remain at the scene carrying out enquiries and our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing. Ryan has since taken to Instagram to pay tribute to the star. Sharing a black and white photo of Adam to her story, she wrote: "My sweet, sweet angel. I'll miss you forever and love you always."
