Heavy rainfall on New Year's Eve caused severe flooding in Wigan, submerging Iceland and Home Bargains stores. Emergency services responded to the incident, rescuing residents trapped in their homes. Local officials urged people to avoid the affected areas and promised to work on long-term solutions to prevent future flooding.

Iceland and Home Bargains stores were submerged following a night of horrendous rain in Wigan.
