The Seaside Heritage Network has revealed its Bucket and Spade award winners
An arcade and indoor play area in New Brighton has been named Britain’s favourite seaside experience by the Seaside Heritage Network. New Palace and Adventureland topped the list of 10 destinations, which included numerous sites across the North West.
New Palace and Adventureland topped the list, having provided seaside entertainment for generations. Today it features an extensive indoor play area and activities including a 25ft climbing wall, a giant six lane slide and ball pit, as well as the Brightspot Arcade and a funfair.
Elsewhere in the North West, St Annes Beach Huts in Lytham St Annes came in fourth place, with one voter saying: “A superb amenity that really makes a day at the seaside special. Very well equipped and looked after. Going to the beach huts has now become a regular pilgrimage.” Meanwhile, Showtown Museum in Blackpool came in eighth place, a museum which explores the resort’s history.
