A massive blaze has erupted at the iconic Somerset House on the Strand in London, with 15 fire engines and 100 firefighters battling the flames. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The fire is thought to have started in the building's roof, and additional crews have been called in to assist. The London Fire Service posted on X: "Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have now been sent in response to the fire at #SomersetHouse. Crews are tackling a fire located in part of the buildings roof".
The London Fire Brigade earlier announced: "Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been deployed to a fire at Somerset House. Two of the Brigade's 32m ladders have been sent to the scene to support firefighting operations. Traffic in the surrounding area will be impacted as crews respond."
