We've now heard from a spokesperson for the Israel Defence Forces .Sky's Mark Austin asked Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner why Israel is advising civilians to evacuate hospitals in Gaza and how he expects this to be achieved.He said hospitals only became targets when it is clear to Israel that Hamas is sheltering inside. 'Hospitals, they have protection, but when they are used for military activities , that could override that protection, this is the problem,' he said.
'We are happy with the release, the rescue,' said. He was unable to share details of how she was freed, only that it was down to the expansion of ground operations in Gaza. When pressed on the number of troops on the ground in Gaza, Lieutenant Colonel Lerner was again elusive.'The amount of forces is not something we share with the public and indeed the operation is ongoing and we are expanding,' he said.'We will go from step to step and strike to strike.
